This weekend’s project was to expand the work bench in my office. I acquired a microscope and need more light. I’m starting to find hat with faster prototype iterations, more bench space is required.

DuraCoat on a Hammond 1550Q Aluminum Project Box
I had some leftover mixed up DuraCoat, and decided to try spraying a Hammond aluminum project box. I wiped down the box with TruStrip, then sprayed a few coats. This color is Snow Gray. I’m thinking of coating a bigger box to hold my smd BITX.
LA Police Gear: Disappointing surprise bag
Once or so a year LAPG has a grab bag. They price this at $9.99 and you get at least that amount of value, but usually more. I bought two. I paid for the suspense and surprise, but did not get anything of value. If you look at the real value of off-brand AA’s, then I probably got shorted.
Sleep Innovations mattress
We recently purchased a new Sleep Innovations 12-Inch SureTemp Memory Foam Mattress
Edit: After a few months of usage, my wife has determined that it makes her overly warm. If you lay or sit near the edges you also sink a quite a bit, you can’t really lay off the edge. The mfg will only honor the warranty if you put a water proof cover over it.
RIP ‘grepmaster’ mug
RIP mug that said grepmaster. You served me caffeine for 8 years. It is only fitting that you should shatter and die in the server room. (no servers were harmed in this disaster)
WordPress broken
A few months ago I upgraded my Ubuntu distribution (my site runs on a virtualized server–located in my garage). I never checked WordPress: it broke.
OSCON 2011
I will be at OSCON 2011 here in Portland for the whole week. I got into OSCON Data and will be at several of the tutorials Monday and Tuesday.
Tap acrylic
Learning to tap acrylic. Had a major set back when I found out my Harbor Freight tap kit was only metric. Metric screws are much more expensive. I also learned that the local hardware store carries Irwin brand drill bits the exact size for pilot holes.
